AUSTIN, TX., March 24th 2015: Interactive industry veteran Meta 3D Studios, founded in 2005, has expanded their custom application and game development capabilities to include cutting-edge augmented and virtual reality technologies, and is announcing that it has joined the Augmented Reality Consortium (“AR Consortium”).AR Consortium Logo

The AR Consortium is an exclusive group of industry leaders and executives actively involved in commercializing augmented reality technologies, defining best-practices, and continuously pushing the envelope of innovation in what AR can do.

“We are excited to join the Consortium and share over 37 years of experience in the interactive gaming industry with our peers,” Says Billy Joe Cain, Business Development Director for Meta 3D Studios. “We believe that our background in telling engaging interactive stories and crafting amazing experiences will take full advantage of the incredible potential of augmented reality.”

“When we designed and assisted in the development of a custom branded Augmented Reality marketing application for the launch of a SyFy channel program, everyone’s eyes lit up and they had such a good time. That was like watching people become kids again,” says Randy Polk, President of Meta 3D Studios. “Your imagination can truly come to life with AR; this is the technology of the future that we have been waiting for. Joining the Consortium gives us the chance to share ideas and collaborate, as well as bring new capabilities to interactive applications we develop and customize for our clients.”

Meta 3D Studios was welcomed into the AR Consortium by Robert A. Rice, the Founder and Chairman of the industry group. The AR Consortium was founded in 2009 to promote best practices and share information in the burgeoning field.

“The team at Meta 3D Studios has an amazing background in developing interactive media and experiences with legendary companies and games.” said Robert Rice, Chairman of the Consortium. “Augmented Reality is so much more than just overlaying 3D images on the real world through smartphones and other devices. Meta 3D Studios has a wealth of talent and expertise to really push the limit of AR and create experiences that are amazing, meaningful, and engaging to users. I’m looking forward to what they are going to do next.”

Meta 3D Studios, founded in 2005, is an application and game development company in Austin, Texas that creates custom-branded interactive experiences for clients, including Discovery Channel, Mattel, and SyFy Chanel.

Meta 3D Studios Brings On New Business Development Director

Interactive Software Executive Billy Joe Cain Tapped to Head Business Development at Meta 3D Studios

AUSTIN, TX.; August 18th, 2014: Application and game developer Meta 3D Studios, founded in 2005, has tapped interactive veteran Billy Joe Cain as their Business Development Director.Billy Joe Cain - Business Development Director

“We are very excited to have Billy come on board because he brings a wealth of interactive experience to the team, from a design perspective all the way to an operations standpoint. Building a strategic plan with Billy was almost like finishing each other’s sentences,” says Randy Polk, President of Meta 3D Studios.

Cain worked for legendary game studios Origin Systems and Electronic Arts before he struck out on his own, co-founding three game development studios over a period of 15 years. “I’ve been very fortunate to have worked with some amazingly talented people throughout the years and I’m always trying to get the ‘band’ back together. Hopefully we’ll have some opportunities,” explained Cain.

Meta 3D Studios’ leadership experience more than doubled with Cain’s hire. “Between Billy and me, you’re talking about 36 years of some very hard-won experience,” claims Polk. Managing highly-technical, creative, interactive product development is definitely a challenge. “Some people refer to the management challenge as herding cats. I think it’s more like herding cats in a tornado,” jokes Cain.

Cain is eager to expand Meta 3D Studios capabilities’ and client list. He says “Meta 3D Studios has created some cool apps and games and I am very eager to reach out to new clients. Once companies learn what we have up our sleeves, it’s on like Donkey Kong.”

Meta 3D Studios is currently growing their Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality offerings to service enterprises including marketing and advertising agencies.

Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user’s view of the real world, thus providing a composite view. “Imagine a jet pilot’s visor with speed, altitude, etc. being displayed in front of their eyes. AR can take that experience and multiply it by infinity, even generating a world visually on top of the real world. There are, essentially, no limits to what can be created,” explains Cain. “It’s really exciting because it can be used in so many other industries including advertising, health and medicine as well as the military.”

In 2013, Meta 3D Studios assisted with development of an AR application for the launch of a SyFy channel program in Canada and North American markets that lets users make mini-movies with Hollywood-style effects by adding virtual actors directly into movies you’ve created using nothing but your iPhone or iPad camera.

Meta 3D Studios, founded in 2005, is an application and game development company in Austin, Texas that creates custom-branded interactive experiences for clients, including Discovery Channel, Mattel, and SyFy.
